speaking laos

i am not joking. -_-

need to call laos broadcaster but none of them speak english, well those that attend to my phone call anyway. and most numbers doesnt work, so i called the Laos Embassy in Malaysia, hoping they have somekind of phone directory for their country or something, and the operator helped me in Lao Language Lesson! here goes

"hi, could you teach me how to speak in Lao?"

"......"

"how do i say, my name is Fei?"

"se hooi mian Fei"

"how do i say, im calling from Malaysia?"

"hooi too jiak Malaysia"

"ok...how do i say, i want to speak to your sports department?"

"hooi tong kam wow kap hoona gong gila"
"gong gila??? ohmygod...GILA??"
"yah...gila means sports"

"ohmygod....hahaha~~` ok, how do i say, i want to speak to someone in English?"

"hooi tong kam wow kap poo tee samad, wow pasar angkit."

"ohmygod....hahaha," and i practiced on the phone, and the guy says im good!

LOL. (^_^) and i called Laos immediately after that, worried i might just forget the tone or something. and this is how it goes.

"hello...?"
"HELLO! Hi, se hooi mian....Fei!"
"hello ...sjdhgweiuwgbkbfakfwuqroqryqory" (and i dont understand a single word!)
"ok...listen, please, just let me...try this....bffttttttt" i start laughing right out the phone trying so hard to stiffle the laugh, and my team member, Williard just look at me, and say "first she speaks thai, next she speaks khmer, and now she speaks what..LAO???"

i clasp the phone with one hand and say in between laughters..."please Will, go away, i cant do this in front of you...ohmygod, hahahaha....!"
the result in the end, at least the lady got down my number, she keep thinking i am a malaysian who wants to SUBSCRIBE to LAO TV..and say "no no no, malaysia no no no,"

and i keep saying "yes yes, malaysia, yes yes!"
believe me, we need to learn some Lao in order to do business....BOSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear! From my acknowledgement in diplomacy, any country should present good diplomatic personnels in their embassies. However, Laos is an isolated country and also a francophone nation, perhaps it doesn't give a shit about English or else. But then, what the heck they would have a diplomatic relationship with Malaysia when they cannot provide good personnels? It's a waste of time and money.
