New Radio Station: One FM 88.1 , copycat or replicate?

NEW chinese/cantonese station in town!

malaysia has a few radio stations

catering to the chinese already,

the slogan is "you are my number 1"

just in case you need to know :)

i listen to the radio everyday on my way to work,

and its always in this order, hitz,mix,fly,myfm.

i heard abt this new radio station, ONE FM,

from a friend who is affliated with the station &

so im tuning in to this frequency 88.1,

to show support, some love yo!~

i tuned in today, its SECOND DAY of broadcast

(they officially went live yesterday)

cos yesterday my dad drove me to work,

and he was tuning into Ai.FM for CNY songs.

i actually like that idea, so festive!!!!

im trying to objective here,

cant help if im being subjective,

heheheh, its a free world, this online sphere!

I ANTICIPATE ONE FM to be ORIGINAL,

like i seriously am all gunned up to checkout

ONE FM morning show & to hear if there's any

brand new segments, never heard before ideas,

you know, maybe an inspiration, fresh & new,

well, i wont call what they have below COPY CAT,

though i would say its REPLICATION at its

most mediocre standard, like it was rushed,

because these segments has already been done before!

and listeners who actually heard it in other stations,

would have some SERIOUS expectation!

like me. Bleeeekkk! :P

7am, i tuned in and heard this Jane DJ

talking to a caller, presumably her friend,

they were going on and on abt Jeff DJ

(who was not in the studio at that time)

and speculating whether he is GAY or not.

my first reaction was like,

is this a freaking joke or something?

so i gave them the benefit of the doubt

& listen to the conversation as it unfolds,

it turns out to be a 'GOTCHA' call

after the DJ 'got' the caller in a situation,

its something to laugh about,

my face went (-_-) ...... cos you see,

GOTCHA call was made famous

in one of the top morning segment

on HITZ.FM when JJ & Rudy were partners.....

next thing i know after the 'gotcha-like' call,

the DJs proceed to say, call in now,

if you're a guy, you're gonna answer a girl's question,

if you're a girl, you're gonna answer a guy's question,

man, i was like, dont need to be a genius to know

that this is the one of the top MIX FM segment

i was just waiting only to hear if there's

anything familiar replicated from FLY FM

hahah, i actually laughed, when the DJ

honk the honk!! thats what Phat Fabes & Ben on FLY

do all the time to wake people up in the morning!

enough of comparison, basically,

what i think it is, ONE FM is prbbly combining,

the best of all morning show segments into ONE,

also, they could do a better job, if they're gonna replicate,

PROMOTE the segments!!!

which the DJ are not doing very well at all,

they were practically rushing the callers to call,

its like, next thing you know the segment is over,

without any conclusion or further emphasis

on getting people to tune in again the next day,

so they can participate too!

why the other station was successful,

because they educate the listeners about the game,

ALL THE TIME, thats why its so familiar!!

it may work even better if ONE FM replicate it SUPERBLY.

well, we have a pretty segmented listener pattern,

cos ONE FM is chinese radio station,

and hitz,mix and fly are all ENGLISH,

so maybe there wont be a clash,

unless there are people who listened to both languages,

but honestly, frankly, genuinely speaking,

i really expected something BRAND NEW,

like a refreshing mint, or kick ass show,

that this station rocks your world

with absolutely mind boggling exciting segments!

but sigh, guess i have to tune in longer to decide,

but by 8am when i reach my office,

i cant say im a fan of ONE FM just yet.

they have one hour to convince me to convert,

not succeeding, sigh, anyhow, i'll listen for a week.

and to make it slightly worst than usual,

we're one week away from CNY,

the whole hour there's no CNY songs,

and this is a freaking chinese station??!!!

even hitz.fm was playing CNY songs, like nearly

EVERY hour, 5 mins just before top of the hour!

i was 10% tempted to call the station

to ask for one CNY songs,

at least i dont feel so down going to work,

but i thought better of it, maybe they will

play some CNY songs, maybe next hour la.
