Malaysia’s youngest pro golfer ‘Ben Leong’ (haha, they put the INVERTED COMMA, not me whey!!!damn gao funny!) got a confidence-booster ahead of next week’s Maybank Malaysian Open when he was nominated for the prestigious Johnnie Walker "Keep Walking" Golf Awards. The 23-year-old Sabahan is one of the four contenders for the Asian Rising Star Award category.
The award is presented to the young Asian professional who has shown the most promise, talent and commitment to the game over the past 12 months. Besides Ben the other nominees are Japan's Ryo Ishikawa, Koreans Noh Seung-yul and Bae Sang-moon.
Ben won the 2008 Qualifying School in Malaysia, went on to secure his maiden Asian Tour victory, the Worldwide Selangor Masters, finishing the year at 25 on the Order of Merit last year.
The annual awards, in association with the Asian, European and Australasian Tours, recognise the performances of professional golfers on Tour during the previous season. The winners of the three Awards, as voted by a panel of judges from the Asian, European and Australasian Tours and Johnnie Walker, will be announced on Feb 21 at the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic Gala Dinner in Perth.
A week before the awards he will be competing in the Malaysian Open at the Saujana Golf and Country Club (SGCC) from Feb 12-15.
AND LIM ENG SENG will be playing as a pro too! good luck man!!:)
