not because i actively talk to them la,
but i think when you're travelling alone,
it kinda gives out a signal or magnet,
and people will come talk to you!
all the way i was reading, using book as a medium to be silent,
if you're a mass comm student, u'll understand what i mean.
but cannot runaway from people sitting beside u
on the plane who was so nice to you and chat right?
Anyway, do you remember, Marshall McLuhan ???
He was the star of our mass communications text book,
i meant EXAM BIBLE, hehehehehehe
McLuhan popularize the concept of 'Global Village'
remember?? anyway my point is,
THE GUY IN THE PIC BUKAN MARSHALL MCLUHAN la,
BUT the most amazing thing is, i dunno how we started talking,
but he uses words some word that i find so familiar with,
and he was describing his current idea to do a media project,
and give me examples and said the name Marshall McLuhan,
i went like "you know McLuhan stuff???!!!"
i know McLuhan is famous and all, but try asking
other major graduates, i dont think they know gua,
thats how we found out we're both Mass Comm graduate neh!!!
and he, Mr. Osicki (guy in the picture) REALLY,
practices mass comm concepts & making full use
of his knowledge in media work! i just went awed.
it was like talking to a lecturer, OF COS LESS BORING,
we were discussing animatedly/lively on mass comm stuff,
we talk for almost 2 hour plus on the 14 hour journey
from philippines to canada until we finish dinner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It makes me i wonder how many of us still actively use
Mass Comm theory in our daily profession?
the amazement that strike me then was more like
i can never imagine a guy who is 60-70 plus
talking to me about Mass Comm just like how i learn from school!
Education / Knowledge is such an intriguing thing,
i just found out, McLuhan is Canadian from Alberta whey.
even more amazing to actually know that fact.
same kampung with Scott, WOW. WOW.
We were talking from his work, to my work,
and he said we seem to have lots of parallels,
like media industry, long distance relationship etc,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, Mr Osicki sent me that pic with his beautiful Filipino wife,
he was actually in Philippines for his wedding,
and he was heading back to Canada on the same flight with me,
he was missing his wife already,as papers need to be sorted out,
now he's returning home to embark on a long journey to get it done,
and he said something that i think a lot of us can imagine,
but wont understand maybe at this stage of our life,
he said they both agreed that they met each other too late,
and i can tell from his voice, that he is glad, contented,
blessed to have finally met her at his age rather than never.
i said to him, well, maybe its meant that way,
if you haven't met those that you've met earlier,
you'll never become who you are today to meet her.
