Only in Cambodia - 4

this is such a dated post. heheeh.
i completed all entries except for the last day!
and Scott is in town again~ (^_^) for CNY hols!
how time flies!!!
On our last day in Siem Reap,
i insisted that we go see far far away temples,
Mr.SaVouen for us to take his bike INSTEAD of TukTuk,
he says "two of you very small size, we can travel faster
see more temples with my motorbike"
and we're like "okay ...whatever... sure..."
but we realize quickly it is the most ASS-PAINFUL experience.
a kid came right up to me and slip the flower ring for me
the moment the bike stop at the first temple.
thats creative. it stayed there till it wilt. abt an hour.Landmind victims making a living making music for touristThere's 2 passengers, so Mr. SaVouen adjusted the bike
LOL. we were sooo amused! he said it does make a difference!
TA-DA. we ride for like 1 full hour to Beng Melea.
poor scott..... bump bump bump
until his pi gu also flat dy. (-_-)
riding on bumpy terrain like this,
you say his bum suffer or not....
sure ler...upon arrival, i made him read up on Beng Melea,
and asked, "which path would you take to go into the temple?"
he turned around and said
"i'd take the wooden path," (see pic below)
i smiled knowingly and said
"do you know thats the EXIT? there's a guide i want you to meet."

i found the same Whistling Guide.
(he loves whistling, singing and is really amusing to be with!)
(i use the photo that i brought all the way from MAS to find him!)
he helped us when Shu, Yin and I were here in May,
the funny thing is, when we were here,
they volunteered when they see us,
maybe cos we're all girls, so it might be dangerous to climb,

but this time i had to asked if he could come along,
cos i totally love the way he showed us fascinating things
which we will NOT discover by ourselves,
he knows every single corner, steps and stones man....

he will show you the paths less taken
you will never be able to imagine
"can we really WALK THERE???"
yes, this is a crumbled ROOF TOP,
it wouldnt even cross your mind that its climb-able!

i learned the most from Beng Melea,
it forces me to think that things are conventional,
and if you just try to be a little bit more out-of-the-box,
it opens your mind, LITERALLY.

What i learn from 2 hour being with our Whistling Guide

is.... when you see an obstacle, it is not really an obstacle,
it is a path for you to take and to discover,
and with that, you will learn to believe in the impossible.
this temple really really drains your mind,
its not about climbing like Indiana Jones,
its the process of thinking and creatively
enjoy the things you've never dared tried before.
i have officially been amazed - TWICE -
by the same guide, he took us through the same path,
and also more and beyond that,
i feel like a rubber, stretching more and more,
testing my abilitiesit would've just been a rock filled with green moss.
but he pointed out a Turtle to both of us,
and we immediately went "TURTLE!!!!!" we couldnt resist but to take a picture like this!
(^_^)V
p.s. and the guide help CARRY MY PURSE!
cos for the past few days, scott & i
was arguing about
why men should/not carry women's purse???
i insisted men should!
he insisted men should never!even tho we have our stand, we're still good.
and he's learning/trying to accomodate my point, LOL!

Only in Cambodia - 2

And so we enter into another realm of~
Evil Good
Passing through the South Entrance
into the City of Angkor Thom
Bayon
unforgetable temple with 54 faces on 4 sides Apsara by the Ancient Window
I wonder what you feel, to hold ur palms together
just like how I prayed when I was little
Amok fish for lunch
Coconut & Beer
this is the only time that you ate MORE
than me in Cambodia (-_-)

I remember vaguely you said
"this has gotta be the most photographed tree"

we're so small compared to these GIGANTIC TREES
it must be laughing at our antics!

'i want to stay a while with u cos i live such a short life'

Mini Us in a Giant World

Really MINI USLegends of the 5 headed horse
3 headed Elephant on the Elephant Terrace
its amazing how these legends are to me

a living proof of an ancient story.

a true story, as real as you and me.

Only in Cambodia - 2

1st day - we decided to get a guide + car
You made me do THIS, after M, our guide said,
"this is the one & only Apsara smiling with her teeth showing"
To touch the evidence of a bomb scar from the Civil War To worship a towering figure from the ancient times
To walk towards the heart of a sacred templeTo derived beauty from the nature
To carved beauty into natureTo tell you a story about our past lives
I wonder which part of these walls
was me and you crossing pathTo look above and realized how fate has twist
played both of us along & brought us hereTo appreciate the loss of something precious
that we will never retrieve To make the most sincere wish
"thump ur chest 7 times in this Echo Chamber
and make a wish"
You asked what did I wished for
"nothing, i have everything i want right now" To look at a lovely couple standing
with the golden ancient city glowing around them
To just look at you and smile
but also knowing that with every sunset
our day to be together is going to fade away
every second is like the last one for me

Only in Cambodia - 1

Fate is prbbly the closest mundane word
to describe u & me.
I asked for your passport number so I could
book a ticket (AGAIN) to SiemReap for u.
And my birthday - June 10th -
was indicated in your passport!
(@_@) it freaked me.
You told me more things abt planes that anyone else
you made me smarter than i was the day before,
i said "you are pretty useful to travel with"
~~~~~~~*****~~~~~~~
We rode on a bike that chilly Cambodian morning
away from our mundane world to another sphere
you planned to take it one step at a time
whilst I had it all thought over and what to do,
i guess, we are really different.
War Museum Horror
Fear
Destruction & DeathMy button was torned that evening,
you took out your sewing kit,
i look at u,
the one who is always well prepared
and i look at myself
the one who always couldnt care less
as you start sewing i said
"again,you've proved urself to be useful"
